Overdose Rescue Kit
When challenged with designing packaging for a boxed product, I decided to make an overdose rescue kit distributed by a fictional company, "Daly."
When researching existing overdose rescue kits, I noticed a strong lack of design thinking and user experience consideration. The packaging was commonly dark with intimidating lettering and instructions (all caps type, red). In a moment when someone is overdosing in front of you, the last thing you want is to be intimidated or anxious. I designed my packaging to be calming and easy to use, with simple instructions detailing every step of the process. I also chose to create the kit out of cardboard so that it would have a low cost to mass produce and distribute to users and friends/family of users.
The kit's brand is named 'Daly' because, right before this project began, one of the most important people in my life overdosed and passed away. I named the brand after his last name. Perhaps a kit like this could have saved his life, so I designed it in his honor in the hopes that it could someday save someone else's life.
